Avis de décès
LARAWAY, Opal
1931 - 2023Lachute
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mum, Opal Laraway, at the Lachute Residence.
Daughter of the late Charles Earl Laraway and Blanche Hughes, her early years were spent in Georgeville, Quebec. She was a cherished sister to eight siblings, seven of whom predeceased her: Margaret (Wilson), Norman, Wray, Grace, Peter, Freda (Mosher), and Dennis and is survived by a sister Elaine in Georgeville, Quebec. She was predeceased by her beloved partner Angus McRae in 2017. Cherished mother of 3: Elaine, Freda, and Allan Colquhoun (Irene Williams). Lovingly remembered by Irene's children, the McRae family, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Family and taking care of those around her were always a priority for Mum. Although quiet and unassuming, she was a firm believer in doing what was right and practicing kindness to others. Seldom did one leave her home without a care package which often included produce from her Lost River garden and one of her delicious pies. A lover of nature, her back yard became a feeding station for deer and all types of birds. In return, they rewarded her with many hours of pleasure as she watched their antics.
Mum's final years were spent at the Lachute Residence. It was not home, but it became second best. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff for their kindness, compassion, and care of Mum over the past years.
Visitation from 10:00 a.m. with funeral to follow at 11:00 a.m. on August 26, 2023, at the Salon Roland Menard Inc. 395 Grace Street, Lachute (Qc) J8H 1M3. Burial will take place at the Lost River Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to: Lachute Regional Residence Foundation, 1 chemin du Sommet, St-André d'Argenteuil (QC) J0V 1X0.
