It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Andrew Paul Mestan on Saturday, February 18, 2023.
Age 96.
Andrew was born on October 6, 1926 to Maria Martinec and Ondro Mestan in Helpa, Slovakia. He came to Canada when he was 2 years old. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife Janina Szuszkowska, dear brother John Mestan (Cecile), loving sister Bozena (Bessie) Schultz, daughter Diana, many nieces and nephews, and family and friends in Slovakia.
In his early years, Andrew was employed by the Canadian Marconi Co. in electronics. When Marconi closed, Andrew turned to teaching. He taught at PSBGM for many years. Andrew volunteered for many organizations, was a man of passion, and delighted in discussions. He learned to play the violin at age 5 and music became a lifetime love. He was a member of the CAMMAC orchestra.
Visitation will take place at Magnus Poirier, 6825 Sherbrooke St. E, Montreal on Tuesday, April 4, from 11am to 1 pm followed by interment at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, 701 Donegani, Pointe Claire. A celebration of life will be held later, place and time to be determined.
The family is profoundly grateful to the staff of Hopital Maisonneuve-Rosemont for their excellent care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice
