Hogg, William George, 97 passed away May 17, 2011 at the Ste. Anne's Hospital in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec. Bill was born March 29, 1914 in Montreal to William Hogg and Elizabeth Nisbet. Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Moira; his daughter, Sheila Elizabeth; and his brother Doug. He is survived by his son, Sonny William and granddaughters, Jordan Elizabeth and Erin Ashley.
Bill lived in Montreal for 97 years, graduating from Montreal High School in 1933. Following high school, Bill started working for small accounting firms prior to World War II. In 1940, Bill and his brother Doug joined the Black Watch, Second Battalion and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941. During WWII, Bill was stationed in London where he worked as a Radar Mechanic. Returning home to Montreal in 1945 he continued his career as a Chartered Accountant until retiring as a partner of the accounting firm K.P.M.G. in 1976.
Bill has always been a very active member of the church starting with St. Cuthbert's Presbyterian Church in Montreal and then joining St. Columba by the Lake when the family moved to Dorval in 1962. At St. Cuthbert's Church, Bill was a Sunday school teacher and an elder and began many years of volunteer work. Bill was the treasurer of the Presbytery of Montreal for 25 years, treasurer and president of the Lachine Civitan Club starting in 1962 and represented the Civitan for the Foundation for Research into Diseases for Children for 18 years.
Bill had a wonderful long life, always giving more than receiving, always there when someone needed him. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Funeral service to be held Thursday, May 26 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275, boul. des Sources, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, 514-685-3344, with visitation on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9 p.m.
