WILKINSON, William (Bill) Thomas

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Thomas Wilkinson, 84, on Friday April 19, 2013 of Pte Claire, Quebec. Predeceased by his lovely wife of 53 years Barbara (nee Black). Proud father of Bill (Lise Savard), Gary (Debbie Williams), Wanda (Dave Keenan), and Tara (Mike Goard). Beloved Papa of Tyler, Cassie, Caighlah, Corey, Josh, Patrick, Gabrielle, Mackenzie, Taylor, and Adam. Dad was very proud of all his grandchildren and loved hearing about what they were up to at all stages of their lives. He once stated "I never knew how much your mother did until we had grandchildren." Dad also leaves behind many extended family members and great friends who he was very close to. He worked for Bell Canada then Alcan Canada where he retired as Tele Communications Manager North America. Dad had great passions in his life, sports, woodworking and dancing with mom. He was the centre on the Lakeshore Flyers football team that won the Dominion Cup in 1953. Dad was greatly involved with Pointe Claire Little League Football from 1961 to 1972 and was one of the founding members of Pte Claire Oldtimers Hockey Association. Dad gave a lot of his life to the organization as a player, president, board member, and tournament Chairman. He was one of the members who organized the Worlds 1st Oldtimers Timers Hockey Tournament which was held in Pte Claire in 1969. Dad was a past director of CARHA plus he created and built the Championship trophy for the CARHA Hockey World Cup that is held every 4 years and was an inductee to the CARHA Hall of fame in 1999.

Our dad shared his love of woodworking with us all in many ways, when we were young he built wood motor boats and skis so we could learn to water ski in the summers at Lake L'Achigan and as time went on he along with other family members built a cottage at the lake to live in year round that would have room for all his family and grandchildren. Dad was never too busy to share his expertise in woodworking and or to lend a hand with our own home projects, he also generously build for us what will become beautiful family heir looms for generations to come. Dad had a passion for life and lived it the best way he knew how surrounded by family and friends, involving himself in many hands on projects at home and in the community, and if there was a chance to party and dance he was there! Thank you to the staff at The Cambridge, where he has lived the past few years, and a special thank you to the staff at Maison Herron for their caring, gentleness and the way they treated dad with such dignity and compassion these last few days. Dad you will be missed by many, and know that when you meet mom in heaven there better be a dance floor, a wood work shop and an arena to play hockey on.
