SBREGA Vittoria Vicky
1930-2016
MAGNUS POIRIER INC.With profound sadness we announce the passing of Victoria De Santis, 86, who died peacefully on Monday, July 18, 2016 in Montreal. Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, she had been battling stomach cancer for the last several months of her life.
The eldest of six children, Vicky was born in Montreal to Venasto and Annunziata Sbrega. She leaves behind five brothers and sisters: Tomasso (predeceased), Sara (Gaetano), Enoch (Angèle), Eva and Daniel (Margot).
In 1958, Vicky married Michele De Santis (predeceased July 19, 2006) of Campobasso, Italy. Together, they raised six children: Angele, Michael (Lynn Dumont), Venasto (Daniele Roussy), Matteo (Carole Brosseau), Debora (Francis Mariani) and Cynthia (James Fuoco).
Vicky was an adored aunt to many nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy. But dearest to her heart was being a loving grandma and nonna to her seven grandchildren: Jonathan, Joey, Sierra, Mia, Joshua, Julian and Gianluca.
A woman of deep faith, Vicky was a devoted member of Emmanuel Pentecostal Church of Montreal North. She participated in many women’s retreats and missionary initiatives, and was a pioneering Uber driver as she ferried fellow sisters to and from church. In 1987, Vicky participated in a pilgrimage to the Holy Land that further enriched her spiritual journey.
Vicky was also known to foster many stray animals and imparted in her children a deep love and care for all of God’s creatures. Her furry companions Cleo and Carmelo miss her dearly.
Many people enjoyed and benefited from Vicky’s generous spirit and infinite charity. She cared more for others than she did herself. There was always a place at her kitchen table and a soft shoulder to cry on.
Heartfelt thanks to the amazing team at L’Oasis de la paix at Marie-Clarac for taking the utmost care of our beloved mother during her battle. Forever grateful, you will always be in our hearts.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
-2 Timothy 4:7
