Avis de décès
DEMPSTER (NEE POTTER), Shirley Anne Elizabeth
1926 - 2019Lachute
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Shirley Dempster in Lachute, Quebec after a short illness. She was predeceased in 2012 by her husband, Lew.
Shirley’s passing will leave a hole in the lives of the family she has left behind: her son Douglas (Christene), her daughter Sheila (Andy), four granddaughters Dana (Matthew), Celeste, Claire (Mike) and Katherine, and three great granddaughters Zoe, Lucia and Elena. She will be greatly missed by her nieces, nephews and cousins, especially Susan, and her many friends from St. Simeon’s and Lake Sir John.
Shirley was a long time resident of Montreal, where she grew up. She was the librarian at Garden View Public School in St Laurent. Upon retirement Shirley made Lake Sir John her permanent home until she moved to le Medallion d’or in 2005.
Shirley had a zest for life, which she lived to the fullest. Her fierce independence and determination were a model for her granddaughters.
A funeral service to say goodbye and to celebrate Shirley’s life will be held on Thursday, August 15th at 09:30 at St. Simeon’s Anglican Church, 445 rue Principale, Lachute followed by a reception in the church hall. Interment will be in Montreal in a private ceremony.
In lieu of flowers donations to St Simeon's Anglican Church or Fondation de l'Hopital Argenteuil would be appreciated.
