1932-2011
With great sadness we announce the passing of Rita Soto Lee on July 22, 2011 at the age of 79. Predeceased by her loving husband Roland Lee and sister Celeste. She was the cherished mother of Rorita (Rorie) and her husband Frank Gattinger, devoted grandmother of Gregory and wife Audy and Devin and girlfriend Ginny. She leaves to mourn her brother Ed, sisters, Pat, Carmen, Ching, Beth and numerous brothers/sisters-in-laws, other family members and friends. Although offered a full scholarship at Radcliff University, she chose instead to share her life with Roland, her beloved husband of 51 years. Rita’s passion was teaching. She taught at Saint John Fisher (1964-1987) where she was known for her famous “Jaw breaker”, her strict disciplinary methods, “one… two…AND… three…” but most of all, her love of her students. Rita was an active member of St. Veronica’s Parish and CWL. Rita was also an active member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Montreal Chinese Hospital. Sincerest thanks to the Jewish General Hospital’s, 6 West Staff for their TLC. Visitation at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 Sources Blvd., D.D.O., 514-685-3344 on Thursday, July 28 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. Veronica's Parish, 1300 Carson Avenue, Dorval on Friday, July 29 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Women’s Auxiliary Montreal Chinese Hospital or to the Jewish General Hospital Foundation.
