WWII Veteran (1939-1945)
It is with great regret that we announce the passing of Paul-Ernest Desabrais on Saturday July 2nd, 2011, at the age of 86 years. Decorated veteran, recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Peace Medal and in the Hall of Fame of : Softball Canada, the City of Ottawa, the city of Hull and the Hull Volant Social Club. Elected to Pantheon Sports of l’Outaouais, he was one of the top 100 sports figures of the 20th Century, Ottawa/Hull region. He was a founding member and retired president of the Golden Key Kiwanis Club of l’Outaouais and was a member of Hull Volant Sports Association, Royal Canadian Legion (Chapter 30, Hull), the French Canadian Institute of Ottawa and the Knight of Columbus, 4th degree, counsil 5223.
Predeceased by his parents: Osias Desabrais and Alda Larose; two brothers: René and Marcel; five sisters: Rita, Noella, Dolorès, Cécile and Gertrude. He will be missed by his sons: Guy (Micheline Chartrand), André (Janina Frantova) and their mother, Simone Laviolette. Loving grandmother of Anne, Julie and Cindy. Dear great grandfather of Jessy, Tyler and Zachary. FUNERAL SERVICE : Will be held on Saturday, July 9th at 10 a.m. at St-Joseph Cathedral, 245, St-Joseph Blvd., Gatineau, Québec. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. DONATIONS: to the Alzheimer Society, 380, St-Raymond Blvd., Gatineau, QC, would be appreciated. THANKS: The Family wants to thanks especially the staff of the 2nd floor north of the Gatineau Residence of the Perley and Rideau Veteran’s Health Centre.
