MAGNUS POIRIER INC.It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of NICOLA NIRO on December 5th, 2014 at the Centre d’Hébérgement St-Michel. Peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the age of 79, after having been diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. He is predeceased by his parents ANTONIO NIRO and MARIA IAMMATTEO. Survived by his wife ANTONIETTA PISTILLI of 59 years. Loving father of his children TONY (CARLA), MARIA (GAETANO), his grandchildren NICHOLAS, ALEX and STEPHEN. Dear brother of GIUSEPPE (ANTONIETTA) and brother-in-law MICHELE (MARIA). He was a kind, gentle and generous man who will be missed by many friends, family and colleagues that knew him. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Dr. Etienne de Villers-Sidani at the Montreal Neurological Institute for the diagnosis and his guidance for the family, the compassionate caregivers and staff of the Centre d’Hébérgement St-Michel and the 5th floor staff of the Jean Talon Hospital. The family will receive condolences on Monday, December 8th, 2014, from 2 to 5 pm and 7 to 10 pm at Magnus Poirier, 10,300 Pix-IX Blvd., Montreal, Quebec, and Tuesday, December 9th, 2014 funeral to follow at St-Martyrs-Canadians Church, 10,005 Parthenais, Montreal, Quebec at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Alzheimers Society of Canada or The Montreal Neurological Institute in research for Lewy Body Dementia and Alzheimers.
