SAUNDERSON, Kathleen “Kay” (Root) on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at the age of 83, in Montreal. Kay died peacefully, surrounded by her family. Predeceased by her great love and husband Hugh E.A. Saunderson. Daughter of the late Norman and Edris (Ussher) Root.
Kay is survived by her loving sister and dearest friend Marjorie (wife of the late Earl Roche), nephew James Roche (Trish) and grandson Thomas. “Katie” was a loyal step-mum to Brian Saunderson (Terry), Daphne Tuck (Julian) and Janet Saunderson and grandma to Andrea and Lisa Saunderson, Sarah Tuck, Emily and Jessie Gill and great grandchildren Maya, Isaac and Olivia. She was “Aunt Katie” to Baba, Connie, Anne, Diana, Peter, Joy and Susan.
The family is extremely grateful for the kind and caring attention and companionship given to Kay by Fira and Cherry and by her previous caregivers, as well as the staff of Place Kensington.
Kay will be remembered by her family and friends for the twinkle in her eye, her strength of character, and her gentle spirit. She was a dedicated volunteer with the Montreal Children’s Hospital Auxiliary, the Montreal Council of Women and a graduate of The Study School and McGill University.
There will be a Memorial Service at 11am, Friday May 20th, at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 Ch. De la Foret, Montreal, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson Society of Quebec or a charity of your choice.
