VERNHAM NEE PAQUETTE, June

1922 - 2019

Rosemère

From Rosemere, on October 10th 2019 at age 97, Mrs June Paquette Vernham passed away.

She was the wife of the late Peter Vernham and mother of the late Peter Vernham.

Loving mother of John (Jocelyne), Tom (Jodie), Connie, Philip and Christine. Devoted grandmother and great grandmother to many grand and great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her brother Rod (Shirley) and her sister Rosemary (Ronnie) and many other relatives and friends.

June Vernham (nee Paquette) was born in Ottawa, Ontario, June 22, 1922. Her family moved to Montreal where she grew up. Before her marriage, she worked in the clerical department of Simpson’s. During WWII, she volunteered at Air Force House where she taught dancing. It was there that she met the love of her life, Peter Vernham. They were married on November 24, 1945. They moved to Rosemere, Quebec, where they raised six children.
June was involved in the community through various activities. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Women’s League. When her daughters were old enough, she joined the Girl Guides of Canada as a brownie leader. She was involved in many other youth associated groups. She became a member of the local ladies barbershop singers, The Northernaires; singing was one of the great joys in her life.
She was a member of the Rosemere Horticultural Society, Rosemere Horizons, and Rosemere Volunteer Shop.
She became a school teacher, starting at Our Lady of Peace school, and then a full time teacher at the Shriners Hospital in Montreal as the high school teacher.
After leaving the hospital she became a tour bus guide travelling throughout Canada and the United States, until she retired, in her seventies. In 2013, she received the Queens Jubilee medal for her long-time service to the citizens and town of Rosemere.
She is pre-deceased by her husband Peter, her son Peter(Judy) and her Grandson Duncan Alexander Drummond Young. She leaves to mourn her, her children; John(Jocelyne); Thomas (Jodie); Constance,; Philip and Christine. As well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren. Also left to remember her are her brother Rod(Shirley) and her sister Rose Mary(Ronnie), as well as many nieces and nephews and many friends.
