Our mother, our mentor, our friend, and best GiGi to her granddaughters, Jean died peacefully and gracefully December 9th at Penn Hospice at Rittenhouse in Philadelphia after a determined seven year battle with cancer.
Jean is deeply loved and sadly missed by the family she leaves behind: her daughters Jodi, Judy and Lori (Dawson), her granddaughters Shannon and Lila, her sister Mildie, her brothers Rolie and Herbie (Pirkko), and many nieces and nephews. Jean is predeceased by her brother Ernie. Her strength, her values and her love will live forever in our hearts.
Professionally, Jean was a pioneer in her field, and remains an inspiration to family, friends, and colleagues.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, or to the Canadian Cancer Society. Our family expresses utmost gratitude to the professionals at The Perelman Center and Penn Hospice at Rittenhouse for the exemplary care and kindness that they provided to our Mom.
The visitation will take place at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 Boul. Des Sources, Dollard des Ormeaux on Saturday, January 5th, 2013 from 9:30 to 11:30am followed by the funeral and reception.
