DONAGHUE REECE, Irene
2012Lasalle
Passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Satuday June 9th, at 77 years of age. Born in Montreal to Charles and Ivy Donoghue. Much loved wife of John. Loving mother to Mark Reece and Christina Downing, and Allison Reece and Sergio Prestipino. Cherished Grandma to Kathryn Irene Reece and Cosimo John (CJ) Prestipino.
Caring sister of Patricia and Roy (predeceased) Cross, Charles and Beryl Donoghue, and Ivy Donoghue (predeceased). Special sister in law to Barbara and Jim Pitman, Doreen and Bill Groves, and Paul Reece. Irene is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
What Irene loved most was a good book, the crossword puzzle and being surrounded by her family; especially at special occasions where she took much pleasure is preparing a feast, including her “world famous” desserts. Irene had a quick and dry sense of humour, a sharp mind, and a love of cats (especially Otis). Irene was especially happy with the arrival, six months ago, of her two grandchildren. These babies gave her many smiles and laughs, and much joy.
Irene will be sadly missed by her family and friends, and anyone who was touched by her.
Thanks to the wonderful staff at the Oncology Department at St. Mary’s Hospital, with a special thanks to Dr. Zidulka, Dr. Prchal, and Dale Jacobs for the thoughtful, caring and tenacious treatment of our mom and wife.
Visitation at the Rideau Funeral Home, 4275, Boul Des Sources, DDO on Thursday, June 14th from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Rideau Funeral Home, on Friday, June 15th, at noon. Burial to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, or the charity of your choice.
