Peacefully on Wednesday, March 6th. Beloved and devoted husband for 65 ½ years and best friend of Jennie McCready . Loving and proud father of Robert (Betty), Richard (Janice), Ronald (Carolyn), Scott (Diane). Adored grampa to Derek, Justin, Jason, Samantha, Carly, Taylor, Donald, Tyler, Dylan, Devin & Jillian. Special great grampa to Spencer.
Graduate of Northeastern University (1943 Business Administration). Goalie for the university hockey team. World War II veteran of U.S. army signal corps in South Pacific. Rose to rank of Staff Sargent. Recipient of Philippines Liberation ribbon with bronze service star. Retired 33 years from U.S. Immigration & Naturalization Services. Member of the American Legion for 42 years and the Masonic Lodge 0155, Chazy, NY. Member of the Cedar Park United Church choir for 25 years. Avid softball player, lawn bowler and bridge player.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, March 17 at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 Sources Blvd., Dollard des Ormeaux, QC, from 1:00 to 3:00. Memorial Service will follow. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Don’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated
