It is with a heavy heart that we announce the sudden passing of Hagop (Jake) Marandjian, on Sunday, April 1st, 2012. Born in Alexandria, Egypt, Hagop moved to Canada in 1966, paving the way for his family. Beloved father to Julie and Vartan, brother to Sela, Sarkis and Haigouhi, Alice, Hasmig and Mitch, uncle to Leonard, Annie, Sean, Stephane, Elise, Alexandre, Jocelyn, and many other nieces and nephews, cousin and dear friend to many, he was loved by all and will be greatly missed. His sense of humor, his ability to make friends anywhere, his courage, his humility, and his generosity, stay behind as his legacy. Visitations will take place on Monday April 9th, from 5pm to 9pm, at the Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 Sources, DDO, (514) 685-3344. Service will be held on Tuesday April 10th, at 11am, at the Rideau Funeral Home, followed by the burial ceremony at the Saint-Laurent Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Royal Canadian Legion through the Poppy Fund, or the AMAC Orphan and Child Care Program of Armenia. “Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.”
