Gertrude Eleanor Chapman (née MacKendrick) passed away peacefully on Tuesday August 30th, 2011 in Montreal. She will be missed by her daughters Elaine Chapman (and Trevor), Ann Smithson (and Gord), her grandson Jamie Smithson (and Jackie), her brother Alan MacKendrick along with his children, Sandra (Shae), Cheryl and Wendy, her sister-in-law Lola MacKendrick. along with her many nieces and nephews across the country. She was predeceased by her husband William (Bill) who was the love of her life. Eleanor was also predeceased by her parents A. Lorne and Helen Mary (née Trites) MacKendrick, her brothers Edward (Teddy), Louis, John and Norman, and her sisters Catherine, Helen and Lorna. Our mother was born in Moncton, New Brunswick in 1923. She married Bill in 1946. They moved to Windsor, Ontario to raise their family. She loved to go camping and fishing with her family on Beausoleil Island. She enjoyed raising herfamily and was very proud of us. In later years she liked picking blueberries in Minaki. Our mother was always happiest spending time with her family, and she loved watching her grandson grow up. We will miss her. We would like to thank the staff at CHSLD Vigi Queen Elizabeth and the Montclair Residence who provided her excellent care. There will be a graveside service in Dorchester, Ontario at a later date.
