TRIGG, Eric Austin

2008

Montréal

Eric Austin Trigg was born in Montreal, and following s life dedicated to his family and a distinguished business career, passed away October 12th. He graduated from McGill University, and went on to earn his MBA from Harvard Buainess School. He was married for 59 years to Marjorie, who survives him, as do their four children, Linda, Heather (Jim Hunter), Bruce (Ann) and David (Katheryn). The perspectives and opportunities he gave them helped open up their world. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, whom he loved very much, Kevin, Sandra, Margaret, Laura, Rebecca, Elizabeth and Austin. Eric had an extensive career with Alcan Aluminium, with multiple international postings and promotions culminating with his serving on Alcan's Board of Directtors. He had a strong commitment to fostering international economic ties, and played a key role in the development of the Pacific Economic Cooperation Conference (PECC), the precursor to APEC, the Asia Pacific Economic Council. His diplomatic capability, along with a genuine appreciation of cultural diversity, enabled him to be successful in delicate economic negotiations that at times included China, Taiwan, Japan and Russia. Eric Trigg believed that the more you knew, the more you knew you didn't know, and he never stopped learning. He lived his life with courage, conviction, strength and hope. He was deeply loved and will be sadly missed. A service was held at Mount Royal Cemetery.
