BRUCE; Mrs Dorothy (Nee Leadbeater)
1922-2010
A wonderful lady rests in peace this day, November 6, 2010. Born on St. Valentine’s Day, Dorothy carried the legacy of love into her family and community. A war bride from Edinburgh, Scotland, she married Lloyd (1907-2004), the Canadian soldier from Tuxford, Saskatchewan. He was the light of her life.
Remembering a life well lived, are her children, Keith (Vivian), Robert (Janice) and Virginia (Mike). Grandchildren, Tamara, James (Julia), Devin (Jen), Brendan, Graeme, Drew and Rebecca have cherished Dorothy as a dynamic and supporting influence; great grandson, Liam, made her glow. Mother would have wanted her bridge group to remember the good old days, and to have a game and a cuppa tea in her honour.
Valois Bay was Dorothy’s nest; Manoir Beaconsfield, where she was dubbed ‘The Feisty Scotswoman’, was her last home. The Bruce family is very grateful for the tender, loving, care so freely given by the remarkable staff.
We were blessed with an awesome mother. Hold hands with Dad and sing with the angels, Mum.
An Anglican Service will be held at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 Sources Blvd, DDO, (514) 685-3344, on November 10, 2010 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, it would be Mother’s wish that you pass forward a gift of kindness in her memory. Reflections can be left in the memorial book at: http://ebituaries.ca/
