KOLODIEJCHUK, Donald

1947 - 2017

Montre

Our dad, Don E. Kolodiejchuk, passed away suddenly on Friday, October 6, 2017 at the Victoria Hospital in Montreal, Quebec at the age of 70.

Dad was born on August 5, 1947 in West St. Paul, Manitoba to Julius and Teenie Kolodziechuk. He was the youngest of 13 children. His eight sisters included Stella, Rose, Nellie, Minnie, Helen, Winnie, Flo, and Pauline. His four brothers included Edward, John, Bernie, and Walter. Walter currently lives with his wife Darlene in Shelburne, Ontario. Extended family may be separated throughout Canada, but all hearts are with our dad at this time.

Although our hearts are heavy with this great loss, we his daughters Lisa and Jacquie, son-in-laws Randy and Andy, and granddaughters Madison and McKenna will continue his legacy of love and kindness in his honour.

His 25 years of successful service with Nortel saw our family, including our mom Kathie, through many moves. From Winnipeg to Ottawa to Atlanta and then Montreal, our family had its ups and downs, but we always loved each other.

To know Dad is to know his love of animals, and his tender heart which made him a magnet for children, especially his granddaughters Madison and McKenna. Dad was competitive Scrabble games, long drives, road trips and camping. He enjoyed woodworking, renovating, his '68 BSA motorcycle, and fixing everything and anything. He was cowboy boots, country music, coffee and chocolate. He had a wise-cracking sense of humour and a smile that made his eyes light up.

In recent years, Dad underwent surgery for lung cancer. He quit smoking and paid attention to his doctor's appointments. We are grateful for this time we still had with him and only wish we could have had more.

He will live on in our hearts to remind us to slow down, be kind to others, and enjoy every moment we have together.

Our love always,

Lisa and Jacquie
