Domenico Pellicciotta, grandfather to four grandchildren, father to four children, left this world during his sleep on July 18, 2022, at age 92.
He was born in Gessopalena, Abruzzo, Italy in 1929, served as a soldier in 1e Reggimento Genio Pionieri as a young adult, and voyaged by ship for 11 days to a foreign country during winter of 1963, with his pregnant wife Maria and one-year old son Patrizio, and $15 in his pockets. They began their new life in Wawa, Ontario, living with Maria's brother and his family in a small apartment, and having their second child, Tullio. Domenico worked three jobs without even speaking the language, and in 1965 they moved to Montreal, Quebec where he spent the rest of his working life in construction, continuing to be a hard-working father, supporting his family, and learning to live the Canadian way while maintaining an Italian heritage, with the addition of two more children, Luciano and Laura. The family of four children lived in a one-bedroom apartment until they purchased their home in 1968.
Domenico enjoyed socializing with his colleagues while improving his bowling swing, trying his luck at the casino, and traveling back home to Italy, all the while being a humble and generous man, just wanting to make people laugh.
He leaves behind his remaining children Tullio Pellicciotta and Laura Pellicciotta, and their mother Maria Pia Melchiorre, grand-daughter Loreleï Marie, grandson Kyran Marie, grand-daughter Vanessa Pellicciotta, grandson Patrick Pellicciotta, and many nieces and nephews.
A small funeral service is scheduled on Friday July 29th at Complexe Funéraire Magnus-Poirier, 6825 Sherbrooke St E, Montreal, Quebec H1N 1C7.
A small service will be held at 14:00 and guests may arrive after 13:00.
