1945-2011
After a brave battle with Ovarian cancer, Chandralekha 'sneaked away' on Feb.8, 2011 with the love of her life Asoke, by her side. She leaves behind her grieving husband who has loved his 'Tama' since they were children in Kolkata. Her daughter Tanima (Riley) and sons Emon & Sumonto (Courtney) will miss 'Ma' everyday as will her brother Sadhan and sister Basantika. Dida's spirit lives on in her grandchildren Aidan, Nikki, Leah, Ela and Quinn. Chandralekha was born on October 26, 1945; the second child of Saurin Maulik and Ela Guha. She studied Physics, enjoyed gardening and poetry, adored her cat 'Gini' and was an accomplished artist, winning numerous awards in India and Canada. She married Asoke Kumar Ghosh on September 24, 1964 and started their magnificent adventure; selecting Montreal to build their remarkable life together. We are so fortunate to have such a devoted wife and unsurpassed mother, who sacrificed everything for us.
