BEATRICE JEAN ROLAND LAMBIE

On July 24, 2017, at the age of 92, Creator God welcomed a truly remarkable, elegant lady.

Daughter of Mabel Lucrece Clarke and James Joseph Roland, Bea leaves behind many with whom she shared her love and passion for life: Douglas Roderick Lambie, her husband of 65 years, and her younger sister Joanie Roland Dearden (the late Barnie). Her love protects the hearts of her four children Dave (Trudy), Rosemary, Malena, and Jay. She was the proud grandmother to 9 grandchildren: Bruce (Serena), Gordon (Shanna) and Rachel Lambie; Andrew (Patricia), Jonathan (Amanda), Matthew (Amanda), and Thomas (Melissa) Bromby; and Natasha & Brandon Sadowski. She leaves us with loving stories to share with her precious 8 great grandchildren: Beatrice & Meredith Lambie, Conner & Carter Bromby, Brock & Lexi Bromby, Blakely Bromby, and Adelyn Bromby.

Her life’s passions included being a world traveler, mentor to many including first Cubs Akela for Howick QC, Sunday School teacher in Montreal, and a CGIT leader in Ottawa, knitter, impeccable dresser, seamstress, creator of gastronomic delights, gardener, skier, swimmer, tennis player, and lover of owls, violets and geraniums….just to name a few attributes.

Her career accomplishments included nursing at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, editing the Children’s Readers Digest in New York, Food Editor for the Montreal Star from 1954-1964, published author in 1967 of The Mackenzie: River to the Top of the World, Ottawa Board of Education Trustee, and owner of her Scottish imports store – The House of Heather 1975-1981.

Thank you to Christie Gardens, Toronto, ON for the daily loving care they provided throughout the years for Beatrice. She remained an active participant in activities such as badminton and singing up until passing suddenly, but peacefully.

The family will receive condolences at Roxboro United Church (116 rue Cartier, Roxboro, Quebec H8Y 1G8) on August 21, 2017 as of 10 a.m., followed by Beatrice’s funeral at 11 a.m. A reception will follow in the church hall.

Donations to Christie Gardens, 600 Melita Crescent, Toronto, ON M6G 3Z4 or to the United Church of Canada would be appreciated by her family.

“We all miss you terribly ~ Love you forever.”
